Lift-and-slide doors

Systems with lift-and-slide operation and the large glazed openings that go with it.

What to consider: PSK (tilt-and-slide), classic sliding and bi-fold systems are not other names for lift-and-slide (HST).

Lift-and-slide family 01 · HST doors

Inferno

Inferno is a thermally broken HST platform for large, heavy glazed lift-and-slide doors. The basic version and Monorail belong to the same family but use a different combination of frame, threshold and fixed light.

Thermally brokenLift-and-slide doorsInferno basic HST version

Inferno

A lift-and-slide system for large, heavy glazed openings.

Why this profileThe lift-and-slide base for large glazed openings

Choose Inferno when the project needs a large lift-and-slide opening, a high load capacity and a wide choice of glazing. Sashes of up to 600 kg and sizes of up to 3,000 × 3,000 mm are not guaranteed in every case – they are confirmed against the layout, glass, hardware, structural calculations and installation.

Inferno HST family versions

Standard HST version or Monorail

The decision depends on the layout of the opening. Monorail is not a higher level of thermal protection but a separate geometry in which one active sliding track works alongside a specially designed fixed light.

Technical system name

Inferno

Standard HST version

The basic Inferno lift-and-slide geometry for large, heavy glazed openings. It is chosen according to the opening layout, size, glass weight, hardware and the structural calculations for the specific unit.

View version02

Technical system name

Inferno Monorail

One sliding track and a fixed light

Monorail is an Inferno configuration in which the active sash runs on a single track, while the fixed light gets its own frame and threshold construction. It is not the same as Ultraglide Monorail.

Ultraglide

Ultraglide is a broad family for large sliding and lift-and-slide doors. Its five versions are not five quality levels: each answers a different project requirement – the basic layout, the threshold, an opening corner, a fixed light or an assembly with improved thermal performance.

Thermally brokenLift-and-slide doorsUltraglide basic HST version

Ultraglide

A broad family of sliding and lift-and-slide systems with a choice of thresholds, tracks and corner solutions.

Why this profileThe flexible base for large sliding and lift-and-slide openings

Choose the basic Ultraglide when the project needs a wide choice of layouts, numbers of tracks and operating modes, but not a low threshold, an opening corner, a Monorail frame or the Thermo assembly. Weights and large sizes are confirmed against the glass, hardware, structural calculations and the chosen layout.

Ultraglide family versions

Layout, threshold, corner, fixed light or thermal requirement

First decide what the opening has to do. The low threshold takes care of access, the corner version opens up a 90° corner, Monorail separates the sliding sash from the fixed light, and Thermo changes the depth and the profile assembly.

Technical system name

Ultraglide

Standard sliding and HST platform

The versatile Ultraglide base for sliding and lift-and-slide layouts in large glazed openings. Final weight, size, number of tracks and operation are confirmed for the specific configuration.

View version02

Technical system name

Ultraglide low threshold

Easier access with a low threshold

Choose this version when a lower step-over height is an important requirement for the project. A low threshold alone does not guarantee a fully level, barrier-free or watertight detail; that also takes a properly designed floor and drainage.

View version03

Technical system name

Ultraglide corner system

Glazed corner that opens

The corner solution lets the sashes slide away and open up a 90° corner. It is not a fixed glass corner; the sash order, the choice of two or three tracks and the number of units depend on the specific layout.

View version04

Technical system name

Ultraglide Monorail

One sliding track and a dedicated fixed light

Monorail separates the active sliding sash from a purpose-built fixed light. It has its own asymmetric frame and is not interchangeable with the standard Ultraglide or the Inferno Monorail cross-section.

View version05

Technical system name

Ultraglide Thermo

Ultraglide assembly with improved thermal performance

Thermo is chosen when thermal requirements call for a deeper frame, a sash depth of 77 mm and a wider range of infills. It has its own profile assembly, which is checked for the specific unit.

Thermally broken sliding systems

Sliding systems with a thermally broken construction; not every version is a lift-and-slide system.

What to consider: Thermally broken sliding systems and non-insulated terrace enclosures differ in purpose and in thermal design.

Thermally broken sliding systems · three separate solutions

Thermally broken sliding doors

This is not a choice between a lower and a higher level of the same family. Visoglide Plus, Modern Slide and Slide Plus each have their own geometry and are chosen according to how they slide, the frame range, the sash weight and the layout of the opening.

This group is separate from the dedicated HST families Inferno and Ultraglide. Visoglide Plus can support certain lift-and-slide configurations, but not every version of it is HST; Modern Slide and Slide Plus are conventional thermally broken sliding systems.

Visoglide Plus

A thermally broken system for sliding doors and some lift-and-slide door types.

Why this profileA sliding platform with a wider frame range

Choose it when the project needs a sturdier sliding assembly, a wider frame range and the option of certain lift-and-slide configurations. Not every Visoglide Plus version is HST, and it is not equivalent to the Ultraglide family.

HST option, modern layouts or a lighter thermally broken sliding assembly

First decide how the opening will be used. Visoglide Plus offers a wider frame range and an HST option, Modern Slide allows multi-track and pocket layouts, and Slide Plus covers lighter thermally broken sliding assemblies.

Technical system name

Visoglide Plus

Wider sliding platform with an optional HST version

Choose Visoglide Plus when the opening needs a sturdier sliding assembly, larger frame spans and the option of making certain configurations lift-and-slide. Not every Visoglide Plus version is HST, and the system is not equivalent to the Ultraglide family.

View system02

Technical system name

Modern Slide

Contemporary multi-track and pocket sliding system

Choose Modern Slide when the project calls for conventional sliding on two, three or four tracks, an in-line or pocket layout and a clean, contemporary sash joint. It is not an HST lift-and-slide system; the pocket version needs a suitable pocket built into the wall.

View system03

Technical system name

Slide Plus

Lighter thermally broken sliding system

Choose Slide Plus for homes and other projects where the openings call for a simpler thermally broken sliding assembly and a lighter sash. It is neither an HST lift-and-slide system nor the non-insulated Slide Cold system.

Non-insulated sliding systems

Non-insulated sliding systems for unheated spaces, terraces, balconies and interiors.

What to consider: These systems are designed for unheated spaces and do not provide thermal insulation for the heated building envelope.

Non-insulated sliding systems · three separate solutions

Non-insulated sliding enclosures

All three systems are for unheated spaces and for interiors that need no thermal break, but they do different jobs. Slide Cold is a framed sliding system that takes heavier sashes, Ecoslide is a lightweight multi-track enclosure, and Slide Glass gives the cleanest expanse of glass.

None of these three systems has a thermal break, and none is offered as a substitute for lift-and-slide (HST) or thermally broken sliding doors in the heated building envelope. Dimensions, number of tracks, drainage, exposure and sash weight are confirmed for each individual opening.

No thermal breakNon-insulated sliding systemsNon-insulated sliding system

Slide Cold

A non-insulated sliding system for unheated areas and for suitable interior or terrace applications.

Why this profileSturdier non-insulated framed sliding system

Choose it for openings in unheated spaces or suitable interiors that need framed sliding sashes, a wider choice of infill and a higher maximum sash weight. ‘Cold’ in the name means it has no thermal break; it is neither Slide Plus nor an HST lift-and-slide door.

Non-insulated sliding optionsSlide Cold for sturdier framed sliding units · Ecoslide for light multi-track enclosures · Slide Glass for glass enclosures with minimal profiles

Key specifications: frame 47.5–99 mm · sash 32 mm · infill 6–9 or 20–24 mm

Ecoslide

A lightweight, non-insulated multi-track sliding system for balconies, terraces, loggias and interiors.

Why this profileLightweight multi-track enclosure

Choose it for balconies, loggias, terraces and interiors where slim profiles, two to four tracks and several lightweight sashes matter. Ecoslide is not meant for doors in the heated building envelope, nor is it a high-performance sliding patio door.

Non-insulated sliding optionsSlide Cold for sturdier framed sliding units · Ecoslide for light multi-track enclosures · Slide Glass for glass enclosures with minimal profiles

Slide Glass

A sliding glass enclosure with minimal profiles for pergolas, terraces and other unheated spaces.

Why this profileGlass enclosure with minimal profiles

Choose it when a pergola, terrace or other unheated space needs sliding glass panels with barely visible vertical profiles. Its 10 mm glass does not make it a thermally insulated enclosure.

Non-insulated sliding optionsSlide Cold for sturdier framed sliding units · Ecoslide for light multi-track enclosures · Slide Glass for glass enclosures with minimal profiles

Key specifications: glass 10 mm · 3/4/5 tracks · height up to 2,600 mm

View system

Three non-insulated systems, none ranked above the others

Framed sliding, lightweight multi-track sashes or minimal-frame glass

The choice starts with the space and how it is used. Slide Cold has sturdier profiles that take heavier sashes, Ecoslide runs several lightweight sashes, and Slide Glass keeps the visible framing of the glazed enclosure to a minimum.

Technical system name

Slide Cold

Sturdier non-insulated framed sliding system

Choose Slide Cold when an opening onto an unheated space, or a suitable interior opening, needs an aluminium sliding profile, a wider range of infills and a higher permitted sash weight. ‘Cold’ means that the system has no thermal break; it is not a substitute for Slide Plus, HST or thermally broken French doors.

View system02

Technical system name

Ecoslide

Lightweight multi-track enclosure

Choose Ecoslide for balconies, loggias, terraces and interiors when slim profiles, two to four tracks and several light sashes matter. It is a lightweight non-insulated system, not a large sliding door for the heated building envelope or a high-performance terrace sliding system.

View system03

Technical system name

Slide Glass

Glass enclosure with minimal profiles

Choose Slide Glass when you want to enclose a pergola, terrace or other unheated space with sliding glass panels and barely visible vertical profiles. It uses 10 mm glass and is not a thermally insulated glass enclosure.

Frequently asked questions

Before the final specification

How do you choose an aluminium sliding system?

First we choose how the system operates and what the space is used for. Only then do we compare the opening width, the number of tracks, the sash weight, the threshold and the thermal version.

Are PSK, conventional sliding and bi-fold systems the same as HST?

No. Tilt-and-slide (PSK), conventional sliding and bi-fold systems are not the same as HST. Systems with a lift-and-slide action form a separate group.

Why are non-insulated sliding systems listed separately?

They do not do the same thermal job as insulated sliding doors and are not offered for use in the heated building envelope.
